On Thursday, May 21 at approximately 10:30 p.m., police responded to a serious injury collision between a motorcycle and a pick-up truck in the area of Princess Elizabeth Avenue and 106 Street.
It is reported that the motorcycle was travelling westbound on Princess Elizabeth Avenue, approaching 106 Street. At the same time, a pick-up truck was travelling eastbound on Princess Elizabeth Avenue, in the left turning lane to turn northbound onto 106 Street. As the truck initiated the left turn, it collided with the motorcycle.
EMS treated and transported the occupants of the motorcycle to hospital. The 48-year-old male motorcycle driver succumbed to his injuries in hospital yesterday, Friday, May 22, 2015. The 46-year-old female passenger remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the pick-up truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
This is Edmonton’s second motorcycle fatality in 2015. Last year, 2014, there were no motorcycle traffic fatalities.
This is the eighth traffic fatality in 2015.
