Police investigating collision after man struck in crosswalk

The Edmonton Police Service Traffic Branch is investigating a collision that occurred earlier this morning in the city’s southeast.

At around 9:20 a.m. today, Apr. 7, 2016, it was reported that a 70-year-old male was crossing in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of 48 Street and Millwoods Road. At the same time, a middle-aged man, driving a GMC 3500 Van, was conducting a left turn (northbound) onto 48 Street when he allegedly struck the pedestrian.

EMS treated and transported the 70-year-old man to hospital, where he remains in critical, but stable condition.

Police do not believe speed or alcohol to be factors in this collision. No charges have been laid against the driver at this time. The investigation continues.
