Autopsy complete in citys 19th homicide of 2016

An autopsy has confirmed the death of a woman found in a residential suite on Wednesday afternoon is a homicide.

The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy yesterday (Apr, 21, 2016), which confirmed Nikita Lee Healy, 26, died from a gunshot wound. The EPS Homicide Section has declared the manner of death to be homicide, and detectives continue to investigate the case.

This death is the city’s 19th homicide of 2016.

Background:

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating the suspicious death of a woman after her body was discovered in a residential suite on Wednesday, Apr. 20, 2016.

Downtown Division officers responded to an assist Emergency Medical Services call at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the area of 110 Avenue and 84 Street. It was reported a woman’s body was found inside an apartment suite; she was declared deceased at the scene.

The EPS Homicide Section is leading the ongoing investigation.
