On Monday, Apr. 11, 2016, at around 11 a.m., Northwest Division officers were called to a residence in the area of 136 Street and 133 Avenue, to the report of a break and enter.
When police arrived, they spoke with a male resident who allegedly awoke to two unknown men in his home. After the homeowner confronted the two suspects, a struggle ensued, and the two suspects fled the residence with the man’s cellphone.
A short time after, around 12:30 p.m., police located the two suspects at Westmount Mall, at Groat Road and 111 Avenue, where both men were taken into custody.
Wayne McGilvery, 38, is charged with break and enter to commit robbery, possession of break-in instruments, possession of stolen property, possession for the purpose of trafficking, along with multiple breaches. McGilvery was wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant at the time of his arrest, in relation to another armed break and enter.
Tyrelle Rowan, 18, is charged with break and enter to commit robbery, possession of break-in instruments, possession of a prohibited weapon (metal pipe), possession of stolen property, possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as multiple breaches and warrants.
