Southeast patrol members responded to an intersection at Coronet Road and 86 Street earlier today, Tuesday, April 26, after receiving reports of a pedestrian/vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers found a 21-year-old female cyclist trapped under a truck.
Although the investigation is still in its preliminary stages, witnesses maintain the woman appeared to be riding her bicycle southbound on the east sidewalk of 86 Street, before allegedly entering the intersection to cross Coronet Street from the north side of the street.
A truck travelling westbound on Coronet Road was attempting to turn northbound on 86 Street, when it allegedly struck the female cyclist. Fire and EMS personnel attended and successfully removed the woman, who was pinned under the truck.
The woman, who thankfully only suffered minor injuries, was treated and transported to hospital by paramedics for precautionary reasons.
No charges have been laid at this time against either the cyclist or driver of the vehicle.
