Police investigate early-morning fatal collision on the Henday

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a single vehicle fatal collision that occurred on the Anthony Henday in northeast Edmonton earlier this morning.

Northeast Division patrol officers responded to the collision scene in the eastbound lanes of the Anthony Henday just west of Manning Drive, at approximately 2 a.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019.

 

Upon arrival, members found a Toyota vehicle with a single occupant outside of the vehicle.

 

EPS Major Collision investigators have since taken over the scene. Although the investigation remains preliminary at this time, investigators believe drug impairment and vehicle maintenance were contributing factors in the collision.

Investigators are not releasing the gender and age of the victim, at this time, until next of kin have been notified.

The eastbound lanes of the Henday at Manning Drive have since been reopened to oncoming traffic.
