Homicide Section investigating suspicious death in northeast Edmonton

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating the suspicious death of a 42-year-old male that occurred earlier this morning near the neighbourhood of Belmont Park in northeast Edmonton.

Northeast Division patrol officers responded to a 911 call in connection to shots being fired at a residence near 135 Avenue and 38 Street, at approximately 12:40 a.m. this morning, Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019.

Upon arrival, EPS officers found a deceased male inside the residence. The male is known to police. Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation. No suspect or vehicle descriptions are being released at this time.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to schedule an autopsy.

Every investigation is evaluated on a case by case basis. The EPS has decided not to release the name of the deceased in this investigation, for the following reasons: it does not serve an investigative purpose, at this time.
