Investigators seek public’s assistance to identify suspect(s) in connection with Dec. 27th random shooting of Edmonton mother

Brenda Hill is known to friends and family as a hard-working single mother, who would do anything for her disabled son David.

The 49-year-old Edmonton mom underwent surgery in January to remove a bullet lodged next to her spine, the result of a random shooting incident that occurred at her southwest Edmonton home on Dec. 27, 2015.

An unconscionable act of violence, which occurred over the Christmas holidays, put Hill in hospital and away from her 31-year-old son, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy. She recalls being soundly asleep in the early morning hours that Sunday, when a bullet cut through her bedroom wall - and subsequently her body – potentially changing her life forever.

Two-and-a-half months later, Hill has returned home to her family, where she’s commenced a long and arduous rehabilitative process. She is hopeful that someone will finally come forward to police, either directly or anonymously, with information that will help detectives advance their investigation.

“The toughest part of this was being away from my son over the holidays,” said Hill, emotionally overwhelmed. “When David was in his early 20s, he was also diagnosed with Leukemia. I prayed for three days that he would live, and he’s still with us today. I’m hopeful God has one more miracle for us.”

Police investigate shooting in city’s southwest – Southwest Division officers are investigating a shooting that took place early Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015. EPS and EMS responded to a trouble not known call at a residence in the area of Graham Wynd and 199 Street just before 5 a.m. When emergency responders arrived, they found a female who had suffered a gunshot wound. EMS treated and transported the female to hospital.
