On Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 7 p.m. Northeast Division patrol officers responded to a fraud in-progress at a retail store in the area of 155 Avenue and 37 Street. It is reported that a store employee was assisting a customer with a retail credit card application. While undergoing an identification check over the phone, the credit card company alerted the employee that the identification provided was listed a stolen. While the employee was still on the phone, the suspect advised he was going out to his vehicle. Meanwhile, the employee called police to report the fraud in-progress.
Upon police arrival, the employee identified the suspect who was still in the parking lot. As police approached the suspect, a female driver attempted to drive away with the male suspect. Police were able to stop the vehicle and apprehend the both suspects in the vehicle. During this time, police observed numerous stolen credit cards, government issued indemnification cards, break and enter tools and counterfeiting stamps.
Trent Derek Thompson, 29 and Samantha Rae Bremner, 30, were charged with possession of controlled substance (x2), possession of break-in instruments, possession of instruments for forging or falsifying credit cards, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possess identity document(x10) and possession of stolen credit card(x6).
Thompson was also charged with intent/gain advantage and possession of identity document.
Bremner was also charged with breach of recognizance (x3) and fail to comply to probation order.
