Sexual assault suspect arrested

The Edmonton Police Service has arrested a male wanted for an alleged sexual assault in southeast Edmonton.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., Sunday, April 22, 2018, Northeast Division officers responded to the report of a suspicious person in the area of 160 Avenue and 90 Street.

 

Upon arrival, officers located Adam Basque, 28, and took him into custody on outstanding warrants for sexual assault and unlawful confinement.

 

The EPS would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in locating Basque.

Background

 

Early Friday morning, April 20, 2018, Southeast Division officers responded to the report of a sexual assault at a business in the area of 50 Street and 101 Avenue.

 

It was reported to police that at approximately 4:30 a.m. a male attended the business, locked the doors and allegedly sexually assaulted a lone, 36-year-old female employee. The male then reportedly fled the business on foot.

 

Investigators identified the suspect allegedly involved in the incident as Adam Basque, 28, of Edmonton. On Saturday, April 21, 2018, police issued province-wide warrants his arrest.
