Police seek public’s assistance regarding theft of $210K in silver

The Edmonton Police Service is hoping that with the public’s assistance there will be a silver lining for a northeast Edmonton retiree, whose nest egg was stolen during a recent residential break and enter.

On Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Northeast Division patrol officers responded to an acreage located near the northern boundary of the division, after receiving a break-and-enter call from a retired resident.

It was reported to police that the suspect(s) cut the lock off a vehicle gate in the driveway, before breaking into the residence and stealing various items, including a number of registered firearms valued at close to $20,000 and a large amount of ammunition.

The perpetrator(s) then allegedly broke into a garage on the acreage property, where they located a safe. The thieves broke into the safe, which contained a large amount of silver bars currently valued at more than $210,000.
