Jordan Martin Cushnie, 23, was arrested by Lac La Biche RCMP yesterday evening, Sunday, April 22, 2018, on outstanding warrants for 2nd degree murder, robbery, mischief under $5,000 and possession of break and enter tools.
Cushnie has since been transported back to Edmonton and remains in police custody.
Homicide detectives continue to investigate.
The EPS would like to thank the Lac La Biche RCMP, the public and the media for their assistance in locating Cushnie.

Background
On Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at approximately 10:25 a.m. Southwest Division patrol officers responded to a 911 call for assistance at a shopping complex near 111 Street and Whitemud Drive.
It was reported to police that a male suspect was allegedly involved in a theft from a business located inside the complex, when a male employee of a nearby business intervened.
The suspect male is alleged to have violently assaulted the male employee, before fleeing the shopping complex on foot.
The 61-year-old male employee was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Friday, April 20, 2018, he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 24, 2018.
Homicide detectives took over the investigation and Jordan Martin Cushnie, 23, was identified as the alleged suspect. The EPS issued a media release seeking the public's assistance in locating Cushnie on Saturday, April 21, 2018 and province-wide warrants were issued for Cushnie’s arrest.
Every file is evaluated on a case by case basis. The EPS has decided not to release the name of the deceased in this investigation for the following reasons: it does not serve an investigative purpose and the EPS has a duty to protect the privacy rights of the victims and their families.
