Police responded to a Curb the Danger call from a motorist in the area at approximately 7:50 a.m. today, Monday, Oct. 23, 2017. Upon arrival, members found a female driver deceased inside a 2011 Mazda 3 vehicle.
It was reported to police that the Mazda 3 was northbound on 184 Street when it allegedly rear-ended a Ford van that was waiting at a stop light. The Ford Van was then pushed in to the line of oncoming traffic on 184 Street and struck a Dodge Caravan that turning northbound onto 184 Street. Neither driver of the Ford or the Dodge sustained any significant injuries.
Major Collisions Investigations Unit has now taken over the investigation. Although the investigation is preliminary at this time, police believe the 31-year-old deceased female was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision.
This marks the city’s 25th traffic fatality of 2017.
