Charges laid in traffic stop

Edmonton Police Service Specialized Traffic Apprehension Team (STAT) investigators have charged two men after a traffic stop last night that resulted in an officer involved shooting and two polices members being injured.

Just before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 members of a STAT team were conducting investigations in the area of 44 Avenue and 211 Street in relation to suspicious vehicles in an area frequented by people in the drug trade. During an attempted traffic stop, an incident occurred when one of the vehicles attempted to flee. During ‎the incident, two officers were injured, and an officer discharged his service pistol, injuring the driver of the vehicle. 

The injured male was treated and taken to hospital, and the other two suspects were arrested by SW Division officers at the scene. Both officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported at the time of the incident.

ASIRT continues to investigate the shooting.

The driver of the vehicle was released from hospital today and transported to SW Division to face charges. One male passenger in the suspect vehicle has also been charged. No charges have been laid against the third suspect.

 

Everett Lovell White, 22, (the driver of the suspect vehicle) has been charged with the following:

1. Assault peace officer while carrying weapon (x3)

2. Flight from peace officer (motor vehicle) no injury

3. Dangerous driving

4. Disqualified driving (criminal)

5. Careless storage of firearm

6. Possess offensive weapon dangerous to the public (x2)

7. Possess prohibited/restricted weapon

8. Possess prohibited/restricted weapon with ammunition readily accessible

9. Possess knowing serial number altered/defaced/removed

10. Possess weapon/firearm in vehicle

11. Possess prohibited firearm

12. Careless use/storage of firearm

13. Carry concealed weapon/prohibited device or ammunition

14. Knowingly possess prohibited restricted weapon

15. Unauthorized possession of restricted/prohibited weapon

16. Breach of undertaking

17. Disobey court order

18. Possession for the purpose of trafficking

19. Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (proceeds of crime)

 

Francis Arthur Primeau, 21, has been charged with the following:

 

1. Possession for the purpose of trafficking

2. Possess knowing serial number altered/defaced/removed

3.  Possess prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition readily accessible

4. Prohibited firearm/weapon in vehicle

5. Knowingly possess prohibited/restricted weapon

6. Possess weapon dangerous to public

7. Careless use/storage of firearm

8. Possession of a controlled substance
