Weekend homicide autopsy results

Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section continues to investigate a homicide that occurred over the weekend.
An autopsy was conducted today by the Edmonton Medical Examiner. 

Ian Janvier, 28, died as a result of gunshot wounds. Homicide detectives have deemed the manner of death to be a homicide. 

“No arrests have been made in this investigation,” says Staff Sgt. Colin Derksen with Homicide Section. “Every piece of information helps with the investigation. If you saw or heard anything out of the ordinary on Saturday morning, please call police.” 

This is Edmonton’s fifth homicide in 2017.

Background

On Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, police responded to a weapons complaint just after 6:45 a.m. in the area of 110 Avenue and 84 Street. Several residents reported hearing gunshots.

Upon arrival, police found an injured 28-year-old male. EMS responded, treated and transported the male to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
