Canada-wide warrant issued to locate man in connection to Brad MacDonald homicide

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section has issued a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of Austin Mackenzie Southworth, 26, who was allegedly involved in the homicide of Brad MacDonald, 37, earlier this year.

On Sunday, Apr. 10, 2016, at around 8:30 a.m., West Division officers were called to the area of Stony Plain Road and Winterburn Road, after MacDonald’s body was discovered in a field north of the 215 Street traffic ramp. The Edmonton Medical Examiner later confirmed that MacDonald died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Southworth is described as a Caucasian male with green eyes, short brown hair and light facial hair. He is approximately 5’7” tall, slim build and weighs 140 lbs.

Southworth has several tattoos including a tattoo on his left hand which reads “brothair,” a full sleeved tattoo with tribal markings covering his right arm, as well as star-shaped tattoos across the front of his neck.

Southworth is wanted on charges of second degree murder, possession of a dangerous weapon and robbery.

Homicide investigators believe Southworth may be in the Vancouver Island, British Columbia area. He may also be driving a blue Mazda MPV minivan (2004 model), Alberta license plate BPB 4769, with a broken driver’s side window.
