Three passengers killed in single-vehicle collision; police continue to search for driver who fled the scene on foot

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision on Calgary Trail this morning that claimed the lives of its three passengers.

At approximately 2:20 a.m. this morning, Friday, July 3, 2020, Southwest Division patrol members responded to a collision call near Calgary Trail and 55 Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found three deceased occupants, two females aged 20 and 21, and one male yet to be identified, inside an Audi RS5. The vehicle had struck the wall of a nearby business. Investigators believe excessive speed was involved.

The male driver of the vehicle, whose identity has yet to be confirmed, fled the scene prior to the arrival of police, and remains at large this morning.

EPS Major Collision investigators have since reopened Calgary Trail to oncoming traffic.
