An autopsy has been completed on 39-year-old Teresa Dejesus Esquivel-Robles, who was found deceased inside a residence last weekend. At approximately 5 a.m., on Saturday, July 11, 2020, police attended a residence in the area of Mullen Road and Mullen Place after Esquivel-Robles was located deceased. The EPS issued a news release later in the day, seeking the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle of interest believed to be associated with her death.
Later that night (July 11, 2020), Sicamous RCMP located the vehicle of interest, a white 2019 Toyota Tacoma, sought by the EPS. The suspect and operator of the vehicle, later identified as 39-year-old Luis Antonio Candela-Gonzalez, was located deceased a short distance away.
An autopsy took place on Esquivel-Robles yesterday, Tuesday, July 14, 2020, and it was determined she died as a result of stab wounds. The manner of death is deemed homicide.
The Coroners Service of British Columbia continues to investigate the death of Candela-Gonzalez to determine how, where, when and by what means he came to his death. That said, the Sicamous RCMP do not believe any criminality was involved in Candela-Gonzalez’s sudden death.
No charges will be laid in this investigation and police are not seeking any additional suspects.
