Police investigating shooting death in northwest

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a shooting death that occurred earlier this evening in the northwest end of the city.

Northwest Division patrol officers responded to a weapons complaint at a multi-unit residence near 111 Avenue and 94 Street, at approximately 5:45 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 13, 2017.

Upon arrival officers found a deceased elderly male on the floor of a common area inside the building.

Homicide detectives have since taken over the investigation.

The Medical Examiner has yet to schedule an autopsy.

The investigation is still preliminary, and no further details are available at this time.
