Autopsy results released in Sept. 18th suspicious death

The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that Blayne Joseph Burnstick died from a gun-shot wound, and the manner of death is homicide.

Burnstick, 25, was found deceased inside a multi-level residence near Commonwealth Stadium at 111 Avenue and 94 Street on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017. Investigators have since confirmed that Burnstick was not a resident of that building.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate. This marks Edmonton’s 36th homicide of 2017.

Every file is evaluated on a case by case basis. The EPS has decided to release the name of the deceased as it serves an investigative purpose.
