Police began investigating following a pair of incidents back on Dec. 27, 2016. It was reported to police that a lone male allegedly threatened a clerk with a knife at a gas station near 61 Street and 90 Avenue, before making off with cash and gas certificates.
Later that evening, it was reported the same male suspect produced a blood-filled syringe and threatened to stab a taxi cab driver and demanded cash, after being picked up near a fast food restaurant at 50 Street and 101 Avenue.
On Dec. 28, 2016, evidence led investigators to the same male suspectho allegedly produced a syringe and demanded cash from a clerk at a convenience store near 15 Avenue and Lakewood Road West.
The series of robberies continued on Dec. 29, 2016, when a suspect matching the same description allegedly threatened another taxi cab driver with a syringe, before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, near 132 Avenue and Fort Road.
Investigators have also charged the male suspect for a “gas and dash” incident at a station near 34 Street and 43 Avenue on Jan. 4, 2017.
On Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, EPS Robbery detectives arrested Trevor Sibbons, 33, of Edmonton, in connection with the series. Sibbons is charged with robbery (x4), possession of a weapon (x4), possession under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.
