Police investigate serious injury collision at 50 Street and Manning Drive

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a serious injury collision that occurred yesterday morning, Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2016 at the intersection of 50 Street and Manning Drive.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., Northeast Division officers responded to a two vehicle collision. Witnesses reported that a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero was travelling westbound on 50 Street and proceeded through a red light when it was struck by a 1999 Ford F150 travelling northbound on Manning Drive.

 

EMS responded, treated and transported the 86-year-old female driver of the Oldsmobile Alero to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The female remains in hospital in stable condition.

 

The 55-year-old male driver of the Ford F-150 was not injured.

 

Police do not believe that alcohol, drugs or excessive speed are factors in this collision.

 

EPS Major Collision Investigation Unit continues to investigate.
