On Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 at approximately 10:40 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Range Rover in the area of 89 Street and 81 Avenue. Officers stopped the vehicle that contained four occupants.
The police officer was attempting to arrest the male driver while standing outside the vehicle when the driver allegedly assaulted the police officer. He then ran back to the vehicle and drove away at a high rate of speed. A firearm was discharged by the Edmonton Police Service during the incident.
The suspect vehicle was located within 10 minutes with the assistance of EPS Canine Unit which tracked the suspects to the area of 96 Street and 77 Avenue. A female suspect was subsequently located and arrested.
Police continue to investigate and the whereabouts of the two male suspects and a female suspect are still unknown. No further details are available at this time.
