Police charge man following fatal altercation

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section has charged a man in relation to the death of a 34-year-old male earlier this week.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, police were called to the area east of 99 Street on Jasper Avenue, by the Edmonton Convention Centre, on the report of an altercation in progress. Upon arrival, officers located 34-year-old David Cox who had been stabbed. He was treated and transported to hospital by paramedics, where he succumbed to his injuries.

An autopsy was conducted yesterday, Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, and the Edmonton Medical Examiner determined that Cox died as a result of being stabbed. The manner of death is deemed homicide.

Andrew Bishop, 36, is charged with manslaughter in relation to this incident. 

Bishop is expected to appear in court on Oct. 10, 2019.
