The Edmonton Police Service has arrested and charged two more taggers in connection to a graffiti incident Saturday morning at the Rossdale Water Treatment Plan. “EPS members have made multiple arrests of graffiti taggers over the past year, and we’re going to continue to do so,” says Downtown Division Sgt. David Chow. “Business owners and citizens alike have had enough. It’s costing business proprietors and tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to rehabilitate their properties.”
Downtown Division members were dispatched to the water treatment facility at approximately 4 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, in response to a graffiti complaint.
Upon arrival, the EPS officers spotted two male suspects scaling a nearby fence. The suspects ignored officers’ instructions to stop, then fled the area eastbound on a foot path, before taking refuge in nearby bushes. Air 1 was summoned to the area and successfully directed officers to the suspects’ hiding spot, where they were taken into custody.
The two suspects are alleged to have spray painted the south wall of the pump house and security lighting at the facility.
Keaton James Bjorklund, 23, and Eric Ellison Hatcher, 22, have each been charged with one count of mischief under $5,000.
