Around 2:30 a.m. this morning (Aug. 29, 2018) a Chevrolet Malibu was travelling northbound towards the Low Level Bridge when the driver lost control and struck the cement barrier just prior to entering the bridge. The vehicle then collided into the metal beams on the bridge, causing it to rollover and land on its roof.
The 19-year-old driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two passengers, a 20-year-old male and another male whom police are still trying to identify, were treated at the scene by paramedics and rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where they remain.
Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
