At approximately 12:45 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, police received a report of an injured person in the area of 18 Street and 153 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a 74-year-old female with the lower half of her body pinned under her vehicle. The woman was treated and transported to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.
Investigators from the EPS Major Collision Investigation Section believe the woman was in the process of making a U-turn when she opened the driver’s side door, placed her foot on the road surface to likely check behind her and was pinned under the Ford Flex as it reversed.
This was a single-vehicle collision and no one else was believed to be involved.
The EPS Major Collision Investigation Section continues to investigate.
