Around 2:30 a.m. this morning (Aug. 29, 2018) a Chevrolet Malibu was travelling northbound towards the Low Level Bridge when the driver lost control and struck the cement barrier just prior to entering the bridge. The vehicle then collided into the metal beams on the bridge, causing it to rollover and land on its roof.
The 19-year-old driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two passengers, a 20-year-old male and another male whom police are still trying to identify, were treated at the scene by paramedics and rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where they remain.
Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Background:
The Edmonton Police Service’s Homicide Section is investigating the suspicious death of a male, which occurred early Monday morning in northeast Edmonton.
Northeast Division patrol officers responded to a 911 call for assistance at approximately 1:47 a.m. earlier today, Monday, August 27, 2018.
Upon arrival, police and paramedics found an adult male in medical distress on the ground lying in a green space near East Parkview Estates, 32 Street and 116 Avenue.
The male died shortly thereafter, despite attempts by first responders to resuscitate him.
Lawrence Isbister was last seen in the area of 107 Avenue and 124 Street on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018 at approximately 2 p.m. Isbister is on foot without any identification and doesn’t own a cellphone. He suffers from memory loss.
He is 5’9”, approximately 200 lbs., with grey hair, brown eyes, facial stubble and glasses. He was last wearing jeans, black shoes, and a grey or orange long sleeve shirt.
Isbister has gone missing before and was located in the area of 111 Avenue and 156 Street.

Pritshma Singh, 23, of Edmonton, who was driving a 2014 White Mazda CX5, allegedly struck the elderly male near Fort Road just south of 129 Avenue, at approximately 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018.
Singh is alleged to have left the scene of the collision, before being pulled over during a traffic stop by EPS Northeast Division members a short period later.
Paramedics treated and transported the injured male pedestrian to hospital with life-threatening injuries on Saturday, Aug. 4. He would eventually succumb to his injuries three days later on Aug. 7, 2018.
Investigators laid charges against the female driver yesterday, Friday, Aug. 24, 2018.
Singh is charged with Fail to remain at a collision causing death under the Criminal Code, and Careless driving under the Traffic Safety Act.
Background:
Northeast Patrol members responded to a roadway under construction near Fort Road and just south of 129 Avenue, at approximately 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, August 04, 2018, after receiving a 911 call regarding a collision.
It was reported to police that an elderly male was attempting to cross Fort Road travelling from the east side of the northbound lanes to the west side of the southbound lanes, when he was struck in the outer southbound lane by a 2014 White Mazda CX5 being driven by a 23-year-old female.
Soosay is described as 5’8”, 140 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes.
The Edmonton Police Service considers Soosay to be of high risk to offend violently; he has been known to carry weapons. If seen, he should not be approached. Members of the public who have information regarding Soosay’s whereabouts are asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service.

Southwest Division CIS investigators believe the same individual is allegedly responsible for seven voyeurism incidents dating back to January 2017, with the most recent incident being reported to police on Aug. 9, 2017.
In each incident, a young female adult complainant has reported being startled by a male peering through their bedroom window and filming them on a cell phone, while they were undressing.
The suspect (see composite sketch below) is described as being 20 to 30 years of age, between 5’9” and 6’1” tall, around 170 pounds with dark shoulder-length hair. He was also wearing a toque and carrying a grey-coloured cell phone during each incident.
Police are encouraging residents in the area to be vigilant and maintain a watchful eye on their properties, especially after dark.

McKernan voyeurism series
Clifford Gladue, 29, has been remanded and is facing charges of possession of stolen property, hit-and-run, disqualified driving, possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized and unlawfully at large.
Detectives continue to investigate this incident.
The EPS will not be providing further comment as the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) continues to investigate the officer-involved shooting related to this event.
Background
At approximately 9:47 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2017, the Edmonton Police Service responded to the report of a two-vehicle collision in the area of 66 Street and 123 Avenue.
Based on the information provided to police, it was determined that one of the two vehicles involved in the collision had been reported stolen.
Upon arrival, officers approached the reportedly stolen vehicle. An incident occurred between the male driver and the officers. One of the officers subsequently discharged their service weapon.
The male driver was struck and killed. The male passenger was not injured and was taken into custody.
The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were not injured. No EPS officers were harmed during this incident.
At approximately 12:45 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, police received a report of an injured person in the area of 18 Street and 153 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a 74-year-old female with the lower half of her body pinned under her vehicle. The woman was treated and transported to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.
Investigators from the EPS Major Collision Investigation Section believe the woman was in the process of making a U-turn when she opened the driver’s side door, placed her foot on the road surface to likely check behind her and was pinned under the Ford Flex as it reversed.
This was a single-vehicle collision and no one else was believed to be involved.

Mann was last seen leaving a residence in the area of 21 Avenue and 42 Street in Mill Woods on Monday, August 20, 2018 at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Mann’s usual routine is to walk from his family’s residence to the nearby Gurdwara (Sikh place of worship) located at 2606 Mill Woods Road.
Mann, who just arrived in Edmonton one month ago from India, does not speak English. He does not have money or a cell phone with him. His disappearance is considered to be out of character.

Missing male: Buta Singh Mann, 51,
of southeast Edmonton
At approximately 10:45 p.m. yesterday, Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, police received numerous reports of gunfire in the area of 162 Avenue and 51 Street. Upon arrival, Northeast Division officers located a deceased male inside a vehicle who appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
A possible grey or silver Nissan Sentra occupied by multiple individuals was witnessed leaving the scene following the shooting. No suspects are in custody at this time.
“We do not believe this was a random attack,” says Staff Sgt. Bill Clark of the EPS Homicide Section. “We are looking to speak with anyone who has information about the suspect vehicle and its occupants.”
Investigators have identified the deceased as Abdi Latif Hirsi, 27, and are releasing his name to encourage anyone with information to contact police. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018.

Kabbourim was last seen leaving a residence in the area of 127 Avenue and 87 Street and on Monday, August 13, 2018 at approximately 5 p.m..
Kabbourim stands 5’5” and weighs approximately 205lbs. She has long black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black hijab and a light-colored cardigan (possibly grey or baby blue). Her shirt and pants are dark grey in colour with a black crisscross pattern (see photo below).
Kabbourim’s disappearance is considered to be out of character and police are concerned about her welfare. Investigators are asking anyone with information on her whereabouts to call the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 immediately.
Missing Youth: Meryem Kabbourim, 17
At approximately 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, Southeast Division officers responded to a weapons complaint in the area of 36 Avenue and Millwoods Road.
It was reported to police that a female had been shot by an unknown male while walking in the area.
Upon arrival, officers located a female with non-life threatening injuries believed to be consistent with being shot by a pellet gun.
The female was treated on scene and transported to hospital by EMS. She has since been released.
Investigators have identified Daniel Atienza, 26, as the alleged suspect in the assault and have issued two warrants for his arrest, including assault with a weapon causing bodily harm and possession of an imitation weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public.
Atienza is described as 5’10” tall with a thin build. Photos of Atienza are included below.

At approximately 4:00 a.m. today, Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, Northeast Division officers responded to a report of a gunshot in the area of 113 Avenue and 68 Street.
Upon arrival, officers located an injured 28-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.
It was reported to police that a party was taking place at a residence in the area when a disagreement broke out and a shot was allegedly fired.
EMS responded, treated and transported the male to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains.
Police continue to investigate and are searching for two male suspects who were reportedly at the party.
Detectives do not believe this was a random event and there is no concern for public safety at this time.

At approximately 5:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, police responded to a weapons complaint in the area of Hermitage Road and Hooke Road. It was reported that shots were fired from a white Kia Soul toward a black truck in the area.
Upon leaving the scene of the alleged shooting, the Kia Soul struck a number of vehicles in an attempt to flee police. To ensure public safety, police pursued the Kia Soul and made deliberate contact with the vehicle in the area of 101 Avenue and 75 Street. The three individuals occupying the Kia Soul, two males and a female, were taken into custody at that time.
The driver of the Kia sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and transported to hospital by EMS. No innocent bystanders or police officers were injured as a result of this incident.
Jonathan Isaac Arsenault, 18, is charged with criminal flight, dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon, use of imitation firearm after committing an offence, as well as a number of breaches.
Peter George Walker, 33, is charged with possession of an offensive weapon, use of imitation firearm after committing an offence, discharge of weapon with intent to injure and breach of recognizance.
The third occupant of the vehicle, a 42-year-old female, was taken into custody but no charges have been laid against her at this time.
Investigators continue to seek any information about the black truck which fled the Hermitage and Hooke Road area following the shooting.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. this morning, Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, police witnessed a silver Chevrolet Cobalt travelling eastbound along 118 Avenue at 123 Street at a high rate of speed.
Investigators believe the driver attempted to merge onto Kingsway Drive from 118 Avenue when the Cobalt rotated over the south sidewalk into an unattended and parked green Ford F150.
The lone passenger of the Cobalt suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries. Both men were treated and transported to hospital by EMS.
The EPS Major Collision Investigation Section has since taken over the investigation. Police believe speed was a factor in this collision and are working to determine whether impairment was a factor as well.
No charges have been laid at this time.

Jathiya Okyere was located safe and sound this afternoon by family members.
Missing Child: Jathiya Okyere, 10
Okyere was last seen in the area of 136 Avenue and 38 Street on August 14, at around 9 a.m. She was believed to be riding a pink bicycle with a Canada flag and princess stickers on it, and may have been travelling toward the Clareview Recreation Centre or the Clareview Wal-Mart.
Okyere is described as a black female, 5’4” tall with brown eyes and black hair. She wears glasses with black frames.
Okyere’s disappearance is considered to be out of character, and police are concerned about her welfare. Police are asking anyone with information on her whereabouts to call the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 immediately.
Between January 2017 and April 2018, a 34-year-old female is alleged to have stolen 401,500 Percocet tablets from a northeast Edmonton pharmacy where she worked. The tablets have a street value of approximately $2 million.
In addition to the theft of the Percocet, several other types of medication were also discovered to be missing from the pharmacy. It is alleged the accused was using the identities of existing pharmacy patients to order medications that she subsequently removed from the pharmacy.
During a search warrant that was executed at the residence of the accused on April 26, 2018, police recovered a loaded and stolen firearm. Two children were present in the home.
The accused was arrested on July 26, 2018, and has been charged with 11 offences in relation to this investigation:
theft over $5,000
possession of stolen property over $5,000
possession for purposes of trafficking
fraud over $5,000
false pretence over $5,000
identity fraud with intent to obtain property
unsafe storage of a firearm
possession of a restricted firearm
possession of a loaded firearm
causing a child to be in need of intervention (x2)
The Edmonton Police Service is not providing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the children.
In 2018, two females, aged 19 and 25, came forward to report they were sexually assaulted by Ford, an instructor at the ATA Martial Arts School in Edmonton’s west end. During several classes and individual training sessions, the females reported experiencing sexually motivated touching from Ford that was not consistent with martial arts training. In addition to teaching at the school, ATA Martial Arts has been owned and operated by Ford since 2003.
“The complainants reported that, due to Ford's position of authority at the school, they felt pressured into situations that they were not comfortable with,” says Acting Staff Sgt. Richard Windover with the EPS West Division Criminal Investigations Section.
“We believe that others may have information that would assist the investigation and encourage them to contact us.”
On Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, Kevin Ford, 47, was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation and sexual assault(x2).

Kevin Ford, 47
On Monday, July 30, 2018 at approximately 12:30 a.m. officers observed a Buick Rendezvous in the area of 101 Street and 108 Avenue with a stolen license plate. The Buick came to a stop and the driver exited the vehicle before officers approached in their marked police car with its emergency lights on. As officers attempted to speak with the driver, the man jumped back into the Buick and sped away, initiating a criminal flight from police.
Officers followed the vehicle, which proceeded through a red light west bound on 107 Avenue at 101 Street. As the suspect vehicle continued westbound on 107 Avenue it left the roadway striking a lamp post, sheering off its base, and subsequently striking a pedestrian on the road.
Patrol officers immediately attempted deliberate vehicle contact to terminate the criminal flight of the suspect, which was successfully done at 103 Street. The male suspect fled the scene on foot but was apprehended a short distance away after a foot pursuit by officers.
The pedestrian, a 25-year-old woman, who was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital, sustained multiple serious injuries.
Officers arrested and charged Tyler James Bjornstad, 31, with: flight from peace officer (motor vehicle) – causing bodily harm; dangerous driving – bodily harm; fail to stop at accident – bodily harm; disqualified driving; possession of stolen property under $5,000; breach of recognizance (x2).
Downtown Criminal Investigation Section continues to investigate the incident. ASIRT is investigating the circumstances surrounding the conduct of police during the criminal flight response. The EPS will not be providing further information or comment regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident given the ongoing ASIRT investigation.
Early this morning, Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, William Webb was located safe and unharmed.

At approximately 1 p.m. this afternoon, Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, William Webb, 74, reportedly left his residence in the area of 161 Avenue and Dunluce Road to attend Richard’s Pub, a restaurant that he is known to frequent in the area of 121 Street and 161 Avenue. It was reported to police that Webb left the restaurant at approximately 2:50 p.m. this afternoon and was last seen walking westbound through a nearby field.
Webb is described as an Indigenous male with short, grey and black hair. He is approximately 5’3” tall with a thin build and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue jean jacket, brown shoes and a black ball cap.
Missing: William Webb, 74
Webb typically goes home after visiting the restaurant and, as such, it is considered out of the ordinary that he has not returned to his residence. He also requires regular medical assistance and therefore police are concerned for his well-being. There are no indications to suggest foul play.

The three incidents occurred in the Newton and Beverly neighbourhoods of Edmonton. Two separate assaults were reported on May 16, 2018, and a third was reported on July 15, 2018. In each case, the suspect reportedly ran up behind a female during daylight hours to commit the assault, then fled.
The suspect is described as being a very tanned Caucasian male, of medium height and an athletic build, with short, darker hair. He is believed to be in his 30s, and was wearing khaki shorts and a dark coloured t-shirt.

A vehicle of interest was also observed in the area on both dates, believed to be a newer model Chevrolet Silverado, which was pulling a unique trailer on one of the dates.

Fatima Ali, 10, was last seen at a residence in the area of Beaumaris Road and 158 Avenue at approximately 4 p.m. yesterday (Aug. 6, 2018) and was reported missing by her family.

Ali stands 5’2”, weighs approximately 100 lbs and has brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black leggings and a black hijab. Ali is known to use public transit.
The EPS is concerned about Ali’s welfare. There are no indications to suggest foul play at this time.

Southwest Division members were contacted by Navigation Canada officials, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2018, after WestJet airline pilots reported seeing a drone flying off the left wing of their aircraft.
The aircraft was on its approach to Edmonton International Airport when the near-miss with the pallet-size drone occurred. The aircraft was flying at 4,000 feet when pilots spotted the drone.
Police continue to investigate the incident, and are reminding UAV operators to follow all Transport Canada guidelines (see below).

At approximately 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2018, police located Catherine McAlinden, 52 at a northeast Edmonton address and took her into custody on outstanding warrants.
At this time, McAlinden faces 33 charges laid by the Edmonton Police Service, and another 13 charges spread across five RCMP jurisdictions. Charges include fraud under $5000, break and enter and commit theft, and use of a stolen credit card.
Catherine McAlinden was suspected of committing numerous thefts at seniors’ homes throughout Edmonton and Strathcona County. On June 7, 2018, province-wide warrants were issued for her arrest.
On Sept. 24, 2016, West Division officers responded to the area of 90 Avenue and 170 Street for the report of a sexual assault. It was reported to police that a female teenager and a 35-year-old male, identified as Sinan Hadi, were involved in a property damage collision. Following the collision, Hadi convinced the complainant to get into his vehicle, drove her to multiple locations and then sexually assaulted her.
On Sept. 25, 2016, Hadi was taken into custody, charged and convicted of sexual assault and unlawful confinement. Hadi failed to attend court for sentencing and neglected to turn in his travel documents. Hadi is now wanted on three Canada-wide warrants.
