Suspicious death near Fox Drive declared homicide

The Edmonton Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on the man found near Fox Drive and confirmed the cause of death was a result of stab wounds.

The deceased was 19-year-old Christopher Fawcett.

The 21-year-old suspect remains a person of interest; however he is not in custody. Homicide detectives continue to investigate.

Background

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section is investigating a suspicious death near Fox Drive.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 police were dispatched to a trouble not known around 8:30 p.m. at the Alfred H. Savage Centre near Fox Drive. Upon arrival, police found a deceased 19-year-old male.

A 21-year-old male suspect was taken into custody nearby, however no charges have been laid at this time.

Police believe the suspect and deceased are known to each other.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 24, 2016.
