Charge laid in Anthony Henday Drive fatal collision

The Edmonton Police Service has charged a motorist in connection with a fatal collision that occurred on Anthony Henday Drive during the first week of October.

At approximately 6:50 a.m. on Oct. 7, 2016, police responded to a collision involving two pickup trucks in the northbound lanes of Anthony Henday Drive, between the Lessard and Terwillegar Drive exits. 

It was reported that a Dodge Ram pickup truck travelling southbound on Anthony Henday Drive crossed the centre median into the northbound lanes and collided with a Ford F150 truck travelling in the northbound lanes.

The 31-year-old driver of the Ford F150 was treated and transported to hospital, where he was declared deceased. The driver of the Dodge Ram sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The Edmonton Police Service has charged 44-year-old Tony Thibodeau (driver of the Dodge Ram) with careless driving under the Traffic Safety Act.

Police do not believe alcohol or speed were factors in this collision.
