It is alleged that between August 2015 and April 2016, the accused veterinarian mistreated two dogs in the care of the Hollick Kenyon Veterinary Clinic in northeast Edmonton. Allegations reported to police include incidents of punching and kicking the two animals, restricting food and confining the two animals for extended periods of time.
Officers from Animal Care and Control attended the clinic in April 2016 and seized the two dogs. The Edmonton Police Service was contacted and an investigation was initiated.
Jun Yang, 47-year-old veterinarian and owner of the clinic, has been charged criminally with willfully causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal, and three charges under the Animal Protection Act: causing an animal to be in distress, failing to ensure animal has adequate food and water and failing to provide animal with adequate shelter, ventilation and space.
