At approximately 5:40 p.m., Northeast Division patrol members were dispatched to the area of 118 Avenue and 55 Street, after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
While the investigation is still in its preliminary stages, MCIU investigators believe a 54-year-old male had just stepped off the curb at a marked crosswalk and was southbound across 118 Avenue, when he was allegedly struck by a Chevy Malibu being driven by 21-year-old male.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics.
No charges have been laid at this time.

Motorists attending the Edmonton Oilers game or simply driving through that part of the city are advised to avoid the 118 Avenue and 55 Street area to allow officers to safely investigate the crime scene.
