At approximately 11:20 a.m., Police and EMS responded to a single vehicle collision at 85 Street and 71 Avenue. It is reported that the vehicle was travelling southbound on 85 Street when it collided with a tree on a residential yard at 71 Avenue.
There were three occupants in the vehicle. Two female passengers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 90-year-old male driver was pronounced deceased on scene.
Initial investigations indicate the driver may have experienced a medical episode. The investigation is on-going.
This is Edmonton’s 33rd traffic fatality in 2015.
