Organized criminal group charged after lengthy investigation

The Edmonton Police Service worked tirelessly on a drug and organized crime file for more than six months this year.

The Edmonton Gang and Drug Enforcement Unit (EDGE) recently concluded a file that involved executing search warrants at four residences, seizing drugs and cash and the arrest of three individuals that were allegedly part of an organized crime group.

Police executed two search warrants at a residence in the area of 90 Street and Jasper Avenue, one in the area of 122 Avenue and 80 Street and another in the area of 102 Street and Princess Elizabeth Avenue.

The following were seized from the four locations:

  • Over $108,000 in Canadian currency.
  • 2 kg of cocaine with a street value up to $110,000.
  • 10 kg of marijuana with a street value up to $50,000.
  • 357 g of psilocybin with a street value up to $3,570.
  • 103 g of hashish with a street value up to $1,550.
  • 84 g of ketamine with a street value up to $4,210.
  • 13 g of shatter with a street value up to $965.
  • 44 kg of phenacetin with a street value up to $154,000.

Stephen Valente, 32, was charged with instructing commission of offence for criminal organization, commission of offence for criminal organization, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3), and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (Canadian currency).

Luigi Esposito, 25 was charged with commission of offence for criminal organization, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3), and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (Canadian currency).

Alfred Molzahn, 32, was charged with instructing commission of offence for criminal organization, commission of offence for criminal organization, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3), and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (Canadian currency.
