Police conclude investigation into March collision involving male youth and school bus

On Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at approximately 8:30 a.m., police responded to the report of a collision involving a school bus and pedestrian. Upon arrival, police located a 12-year-old boy who had been struck by a school bus. The youth was reportedly travelling eastbound across Castle Downs Road NW, at 162 Avenue, in a crosswalk when he was struck by a bus turning left onto Castle Downs Road NW. The 12-year-old was treated and transported to hospital by paramedics with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. 

The EPS Major Collision Investigation Section (MCIS) has since concluded their investigation into the incident. The male driver was issued a violation for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk under the Traffic Safety Act.

The 12-year-old has been discharged from hospital and continues to recover from his injuries.
