On Friday, June 16, 2017, a male flagged down a passing police vehicle in the area of 118 Avenue and 50 Street just before 3:30 a.m. to report that another male, Brent Jonas Coates, 25, had been stabbed in a nearby alley. Police located the injured male and called for EMS; however, he died on scene.
“We would like to speak with anyone who had contact with Brent in the days leading up to his death,” says Staff. Sgt. Duane Hunter of the EPS Homicide Section. “We continue to encourage anyone who has information about this homicide to contact police.”
This was Edmonton’s 23rd homicide of 2017.
