On Sunday, May 22, 2016, just before 4 p.m., the Edmonton Police Service received a report of an alleged incident at a movie theatre washroom within West Edmonton Mall. Upon police arrival, the alleged suspect was taken into police custody and a mobile device was seized at the scene.
Aaron Voon, 41, has since been charged with possession of child pornography, making child pornography, and voyeurism.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Edmonton Police Service detectives are working with Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) investigators from the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT).
“These investigations are complex and we have assigned a number of resources to determine if this is in fact an isolated incident,” says Staff Sgt. Stephen Camp of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
Edmonton Police detectives want to speak to anyone who may have been within the washroom or the immediate area when the alleged offences took place.
Anyone who has information is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at http://ift.tt/1az8Eve.
