ASIRT investigating officer involved shooting

At approximately 4:15 p.m. this afternoon, Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, Northeast Division officers were dispatched to the report of a man with a weapon at a residence in the area of 118 Avenue and 68 Street. 

Upon arrival at the residence, two officers encountered a male. A confrontation occurred between the suspect and police, and the officers discharged their service weapons.

EMS attended the scene and declared the male deceased. No EPS officers were harmed during this incident.

The EPS will not be providing further comment, as the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has since taken the lead in this investigation.
