Since the beginning of July, officers with the West Division Stony Plain Rd. Beats team have noticed a rise in graffiti, with a particular tag appearing in more than 70 locations across the city. Found primarily along Stony Plain Rd, 124 Street, Jasper Avenue, River Valley Rd and Whyte Avenue, the tags have appeared on a myriad of property, including, vehicles, dumpsters, buildings, underpasses and storefronts. Officers believe the taggers are operating in the overnight and early morning hours.
Officers continue to try to identify the suspect(s) and are releasing photos of the tag in hopes that someone will come forward with information.
Majority of the tags pictured were noticed by officers on patrol and were not reported to police. As a result, anyone with a similar tag on their property is encouraged to file a report. As well, any citizens in the Stony Plain Rd, 124 Street, Jasper Avenue, River Valley Rd or Whyte Avenue areas that may have witnessed the tagging or who may have captured video or photo footage of the taggers is also asked to contact police as soon as possible.
