2,363 traffic violations during big ticket event

Edmonton Police Service officers and City of Edmonton automated enforcement handed out 2,363 traffic violations this week during Operation 24 Hours.

During the 24-hour enforcement period on Thursday, Mar. 17, 2016, 512 speeding tickets were issued.

There were also 416 violations for seatbelt infractions, impaired driving, distracted driving, other Traffic Safety Act violations and Criminal Code offences.

These numbers are a slight increase from the 2,295 violations issued during the February 2016 enforcement blitz.

The Edmonton Police Service and the City of Edmonton coordinate regular enforcement campaigns throughout the year (such as Operation 24 Hours) to improve traffic safety on Edmonton’s roadways.
