Southwest Division patrol members responded to an area just east of the Cameron Heights turnoff westbound on the Anthony Henday, at approximately 6 a.m. today. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 24-year-old male, lying on the Henday and suffering from multiple injuries.
Witnesses told police it appeared the motorcyclist was weaving in and out of traffic and was attempting to squeeze between two semi-tractor trailer units, when he allegedly struck the side of one truck and lost control of his Ninja motorcycle.
Paramedics treated the motorcyclist on scene, before transporting him to hospital, where he remains in unstable condition.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at http://ift.tt/1az8Eve
Major Collision investigators expect to reopen the westbound lanes to oncoming traffic at approximately 1:30 p.m. today. In the meantime, motorists travelling west on the Anthony Henday are asked to exit the Henday at any off-ramp east of the Cameron Heights turnoff.
