Man charged in connection with theft of police vehicle

The Edmonton Police Service has charged a 27-year-old male in connection with the theft of a police vehicle that occurred yesterday morning in north Edmonton.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, Edmonton Police Service officers responded to the area of 132 Avenue and 113A Street after a female motorist reported she had been approached and threatened by a male on foot.

A Canine Unit located the suspect in the area. The suspect evaded officers and stole a police service vehicle, fleeing westbound on 132 Avenue.

The vehicle eventually proceeded eastbound on 137 Avenue, where it allegedly attempted to make a left-hand turn onto 113A Street, striking a tree in the corner of the intersection. The suspect was arrested and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Ian Trevor Ball, 27, has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, assault a peace officer, theft of motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, dangerous driving and resisting a peace officer.

Suspect arrested in theft of police service vehicle

The Edmonton Police Service has arrested a male suspect in connection with the theft of a police service vehicle in north Edmonton this morning.

Edmonton Police Service officers responded to the area of 132 Avenue and 113A Street at approximately 5:30 a.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014) when a female motorist reported she was approached and threatened by a male on foot. The motorist drove away and called police.

A Canine Unit located the suspect in the area. The male evaded officers and stole a police service vehicle, fleeing westbound on 132 Avenue.

The vehicle eventually proceeded eastbound on 137 Avenue, where it allegedly attempted to make a left-hand turn onto 113A Street. The vehicle struck a tree in the northeast corner of the intersection. The suspect was arrested and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The file is still under investigation and charges are pending.

Police investigate assault on female in Lessard

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating an assault on a woman that occurred in Lessard early morning today.

Southwest Division Patrol officers responded to a complaint of an alleged assault that occurred in the area of Lessard Road and Dechene Way at approximately 12:10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014. It was reported a 30-year-old woman was walking on Lessard Road, when she was accosted from behind by a male suspect.

The suspect allegedly ran toward the woman, grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth. The woman was able to break free, and the suspect fled the area on foot. The woman did not sustain injuries.

The suspect is described as a tall, skinny male. He was wearing a loose, grey hoodie, a black face covering and gloves.

Missing senior found safe and unharmed

A 70-year-old female diagnosed with schizophrenia who went missing Friday evening has been located safe and unharmed.

Georgina Meade was located by police in the downtown area this morning, disoriented but otherwise unharmed. Police returned the woman to her senior’s residence around noon today.

Edmonton man succumbs to injuries from Oct. 5th hit-and-run collision

A 46-year-old man has died, following injuries sustained during an Oct. 5th hit-and-run collision on Rabbit Hill Road in Southwest Edmonton.

The male was struck by a vehicle travelling northbound on Rabbit Hill Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, while walking from the southeast corner to the southwest corner in a marked crosswalk at Hodgson Boulevard.



The complainant, a father of two young children, remained in hospital in critical condition until Thursday evening, where he finally succumbed to his injuries.



Investigators believe the vehicle involved in the collision was a late model (late 1990s or early 2000s) four door, light-coloured sedan. The vehicle likely sustained damage to the front bumper, hood and possibly a cracked windshield on the passenger side.

Investigators are again appealing to the driver of the vehicle, as well as the general public, to contact police and to help bring closure to a grieving family.

Autopsy results confirm 22-year-old male died from stab wound

Autopsy results confirm that a 22-year-old Edmonton man died Saturday, as a result of a stab wound. The Medical Examiner confirmed that Michael McNeill, 22, died from a stab wound sustained during an altercation with another male in a suite near 107 Avenue and 116 Street on Oct. 18, 2014. The manner of death was determined to be a homicide.



Cody Ross Larson, of Edmonton, was taken into custody Saturday morning and has since been charged with second-degree murder and possession of a weapon.

Homicide detectives arrest, charge male with second-degree murder

Homicide detectives have arrested and charged a 23-year-old man with the death of a male found Saturday morning in a suite near 107 Avenue and 116 Street.

Cody Ross Larson, of Edmonton, was taken into custody Saturday morning and subsequently charged with second-degree murder and possession of a weapon. Larson’s first court appearance is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20, 2014.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday afternoon to determine the identity of the deceased and cause of death.
