Police seek public's assistance locating missing man

The Edmonton Police Service is asking for the public’s help locating a missing 36-year-old man.

Adam Lingstadt, 36, was last seen at a McDonald’s restaurant in the area of 67 Avenue and 177 Street on July 1, 2019, at approximately 11 p.m.

 

Lingstadt is described as a 5’10” tall and weighs approximately 150 lbs. He has blue eyes, short dark hair and was last seen wearing a green striped shirt, black pants and red runners. Lingstadt also has several notable tattoos including a gorilla head on his right upper back, a rose on his right shoulder and a skull with octopus tentacles on his right shoulder/arm. Lingstadt’s disappearance is considered to be out of character, and as a result, there are concerns for his well-being. There are, however, no indications of foul play at this time.

Sexual Assault Section investigating series of indecent acts in river valley

The Edmonton Police Service Sexual Assault Section is investigating a series of 11 indecent acts that have occurred in and around the city’s river valley over the last several weeks.

The incidents, which occurred between mid-July and most recently on Tuesday, Sept. 2, involve a male masturbating in the river valley area below Saskatchewan Drive on the trail system near the Kinsmen Sports Centre.

Incidents have occurred on both sides of the North Saskatchewan River, between the Dudley B Menzies Bridge and 105 Street. The suspect’s behaviour has recently escalated to include following some of the female complainants, before exposing himself and attempting to grab and/or groping them. Most of the incidents have occurred between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The suspect is described as a tanned or dark-skinned male, between 5’4” and 5’9” tall and 30 to 40 years of age. He has a slim build, short or shaved dark hair and facial hair or beard stubble. Police have stepped up patrols throughout the area.

Investigators are cautioning women who frequent that area or use the trail system to carry a cell phone or communication device with them, travel together with others, when possible, and inform family and/or friends of your plans and timelines for return.

Cannabis seized, businesses fined for selling without a licence

Several non-licensed retail shops are facing fines related to the sale of illegal cannabis products.

At the beginning of 2019, the Edmonton Police Service received information that led to an investigation into several businesses selling cannabis products without the required municipal and provincial licences.

From August 3 to 10, 2019, the City of Edmonton and Edmonton Police Service conducted a joint operation. As a result of this investigation, on August 21, 2019, the Edmonton Police Service seized approximately $1,500 in cannabis products that were being sold illegally from three separate businesses, and eight businesses were fined $48,000 for business licence and zoning bylaw offences by City of Edmonton municipal enforcement officers.

 

“A legal market is a safer market, and the EPS will continue to crack down on the illegal market,” says Cst. Dexx Williams, EPS Cannabis Liaison. “With edibles coming soon, we want to remind all workers in the cannabis industry that if you’re selling any cannabis products without a licence, including those that contain CBD, businesses can be fined up to $50,000, and individual workers can face a fine of up to $10,000.”

Police seek public’s assistance locating missing man

The Edmonton Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 40-year-old missing man. Cory Dawson Joudrey, 40, was last seen in the Capilano area on Sunday, June 30, 2019. He is described as a Caucasian male, 6’6" tall, weighing approximately 340 lbs. Joudrey has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers with white laces (see below photo).

Joudrey’s disappearance is considered to be out of character as he has not been in contact with his family and friends, and as such, there are concerns for his well-being.

Missing youth located

The 14-year-old female youth who was reported missing on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, has been located.

Kilie Saddleback, 14, was located safe in Wetaskiwin on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, by the Wetaskiwin RCMP.

Police continue to seek driver information following serious hit-and-run collision

The EPS Major Collision Investigations Section continues to seek information regarding the identity of a driver involved in an early morning hit-and-run collision on Friday of last week.

At approximately 5:50 a.m. on, Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, Downtown Division officers responded to the report of a hit-and-run collision in the area of Jasper Avenue and 102 Street. It was reported to police that a male pedestrian was crossing from the south side to the north side of Jasper Avenue at the intersection of 102 Street when he was struck by a small black SUV travelling westbound on Jasper Avenue. Witnesses reported that the vehicle stopped briefly at 103 Street and Jasper Avenue before proceeding northbound on 103 Street.

 

EMS responded, treated and transported the 73-year-old male pedestrian to hospital with serious injuries where he remains.

 

Investigators believe the vehicle involved was a newer model black Ford Escape SUV and are releasing a photo of the vehicle in hopes of identifying the driver.

Officers also wish to speak with the driver of a white four door sedan that was reportedly travelling westbound on Jasper Avenue at the time and stopped for the pedestrian just prior to the collision. Investigators believe the driver of this sedan may have information that is valuable to the investigation and are asking them to contact the EPS as soon as possible.

Traffic Section investigating fatal pedestrian collision

The EPS is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a train that occurred earlier this morning in south Edmonton.

At approximately 3:45 a.m. today, Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, Southeast Division officers responded to the report of a collision in the area of 34 Avenue and Gateway Boulevard. It was reported to police that a male pedestrian was walking southbound along the railway tracks just north of 34 Avenue when he was struck by a southbound freight train.

 

EMS responded and treated the pedestrian; however, the 19-year-old male succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

 

Officers with the EPS Major Collision Investigations Section continue to work with Canadian Pacific Railway investigators to investigate this collision. At this time, charges are not expected.
