Assist to locate: Police searching for carjacking suspect

The Edmonton Police Service has issued numerous firearm and robbery-related warrants for a 23-year-old male in connection to an early-morning carjacking incident last weekend.

Southwest Division patrol members responded to a 911 trouble unknown call on the Anthony Henday near the Camera Heights exit, at approximately 6:35 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a 55-year-old female complainant had allegedly been dragged from her vehicle by a male suspect, after she had stopped to offer assistance to the male and his female passenger, whose SUV had driven off the road and into a nearby ditch.

It was reported to police that the male and female suspects then drove off in the woman’s 2011 grey GMC Yukon, which was last seen travelling westbound on the Henday.

Police continue to search for the male suspect, who has since been identified as 23-year-old Everett White, of Edmonton (see photo below). Investigators are also looking for the woman’s grey-colour GMC Yukon, which carried an Alberta licence plate #J18143, at the time of the carjacking.

White is considered to be armed and dangerous. Public information and warning: Sexual and violent offender released

In the interest of public safety, the Edmonton Police Service is issuing the following warning; Dana Michael Fash is a convicted violent and sexually violent offender and the Edmonton Police Service has reasonable grounds to believe he will commit another violent offence against someone while in the community. Fash is believed to be of significant risk to the community and as such the Edmonton Police Service has a duty to warn the public.

 

Fash was recently released from the Edmonton Remand Centre and is residing in the Edmonton area.

 

Fash has a history of breaking and entering residences or other public buildings and sexually assaulting known or unknown adult females within. Fash’s risk for violence and sexual violence increases with the consumption of drugs and alcohol. 

           

 

 

The Edmonton Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community. Fash currently has shoulder length hair and a full beard.

Investigators release images of suspect vehicle in Nelson murder

Homicide investigators are releasing surveillance images of a suspect vehicle in connection to the Jan. 18th murder of Barbara Nelson.

Police believe the suspects responsible for a home invasion and subsequent death of Nelson fled the murder scene in a white Jeep Compass (year unknown). The vehicle seen in images below is detailed with black roof rails, side mirrors and front-door handles.

The suspect vehicle was last seen fleeing the area westbound on 120 Avenue from 61 Street in the northeast Edmonton neighbourhood of Montrose, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18, 2019.

Nelson, 59, died in hospital later that evening, as a result of blunt force trauma incurred from an altercation during the home invasion.

Background
Northeast patrol members responded to a residential address near 119 Avenue and 61 Street at approximately 8:50 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, after receiving a 911 call regarding trouble unknown.

Upon arrival, officers entered the home and discovered two complainants, a male and a female with undetermined injuries. The suspects fled the residence prior to the arrival of police.

 

Homicide investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating this white Jeep Compass, believed to be the suspect vehicle involved in the Jan. 18^th murder of Barbara Nelson.

Police investigate threats to Edmonton schools

The EPS has received additional reports of a similar, threatening photo circulating amongst students from J. Percy Page School (2707 Mill Woods Road) via social media.

Police have conducted an investigation into this specific threat and do not believe there is any present danger to the students, staff or public as a result of this social media post. Investigators believe the images circulated in two school threats to be stock images obtained online. The images are being circulated amongst students as far as Winnipeg, MB.

"We would like to reassure students, parents and the public that we take all threats very seriously and investigate them thoroughly," says Sgt. Em Chan with the School Resource Officer Unit. "If you see a threat or concerning language on social media, we encourage you to call 780-423-4567 to ensure police can act immediately."

"We appreciate all of the calls we received regarding both incidents. As a result of this swift reporting, we were able to identify the sources of the threats quickly, and ensure the safety of the students, staff and general public."

Police would like to remind citizens that anyone found to be issuing threatening communications could face criminal charges.

Police investigate shooting in south Edmonton

On Saturday, Feb 9, 2019, at approximately 5:20 p.m. police were called to an apartment suite in the area of 114 Street and Ellerslie Road.

Upon arrival, police located three men in a suite with injuries sustained from a firearm. Two of the men sustained non-life-threatening injuries and the third man is in serious, but stable condition. All men are in their 30s.

We do not have any suspects in custody at this time and continue to investigate. Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident.

Police investigate threatening post on social media reagrding Jasper Place High School

At approximately 7:30 p.m. yesterday evening, Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, police received several reports of a threatening photo circulating amongst students from Jasper Place High School (8950 163 Street) via social media.

Police have investigated this, through a variety of steps, and do not believe there is any present danger to the students, staff or public as a result of this social media post.

The EPS has been in touch with Jasper Place High School officials and a School Resource Officer will be available to students.

No charges have been laid at this time and no further information is being released as the investigation continues.

Police charge man with uttering threats; investigation continues

On Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019 at approximately 10 a.m., police were contacted in regards to a threatening e-mail sent to a staff member of the United Conservative Party. Due to the specific and violent nature of the threat, investigators took an 18-year-old into custody, without incident. Abdul Anas Habash, 18, was charged with uttering threats.

A search warrant was later obtained on a residence in Edmonton, where investigators were able to determine there was no risk to public safety.

The EPS continues to investigate the incident that occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019 involving a letter received by an Edmonton Mosque.

The EPS would like to stress the importance of community, tolerance and respectful dialogue and remind the public that all allegations of threats, hate crimes or hate-motivated crimes reported to police will be investigated with criminal charge(s) being a potential outcome.
