Medical Examiner confirms man died of blunt force trauma

The Edmonton Medical Examiner has confirmed that a 46-year-old Edmonton man died in the inner-city yesterday, as a result of blunt force trauma.

Downtown Division patrol officers were dispatched to an area near 106 Avenue just west of 96 Street at approximately 12:55 a.m. Thursday, May 5^th, where they found Robert Paul Loyer, 46, on the ground bleeding and in physical distress.

Attempts by officers to revive the man failed, and he was pronounced deceased on scene.

This is Edmonton’s 21^st homicide of 2016.

Charges laid in May 3 homicide of young woman

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section has charged Chad Neville Boysis, 29, for the murder of Sabrina Papin, 27, who passed away in hospital on May 3, 2016 after being shot.

Officers were called to a hospital on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at approximately 6:30 p.m. after it was reported a female and a male suffering from gunshot wounds attended the hospital. The 31-year-old male remains in hospital recovering.

The autopsy was completed yesterday on Papin, and Edmonton’s Medical Examiner determined that the woman died from a gunshot wound.

Chad Neville Boysis has been charged with 2^nd degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, use of a firearm while committing an offence, unauthorized possession of a firearm, robbery with a prohibited/restricted firearm, and possession of firearm while prohibited (x2).

Detectives are looking for Brian Joseph Boysis, 34, who is wanted on an Alberta-wide warrant for the following charges: 2^nd degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, use of a firearm while committing an offence, unauthorized possession of a firearm, robbery with a prohibited/restricted firearm, possession firearm while prohibited, and possession of firearm while prohibited.

Man found bleeding in street dies; Homicide Section investigating

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section is investigating the suspicious death of a man who was found injured in Downtown Division early this morning.

Officers were called to 106 Avenue, just west of 96 Street, at approximately 12:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016. An injured male with obvious signs of trauma was found bleeding on the ground. Police attempted CPR on the man, but he was declared deceased at the scene.

It is reported six to seven people were seen fleeing the area at the time of the incident. The EPS Homicide Section is working to identify suspects in the ongoing investigation.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday, May 6, 2016.

St. Albert man facing numerous charges including manslaughter in connection with March 12th fatal hit-and-run collision

The Edmonton Police Service has charged a 36-year-old St. Albert resident with numerous offences including dangerous driving causing death in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision on March 12th that claimed the life of a 29-year-old Edmonton man and sent several others to hospital.

One man is dead and another is in critical condition in hospital in connection with a three-vehicle collision that occurred in northeast Edmonton on that Saturday morning.

Northeast Division patrol members initially responded to an area west of the intersection at 167 Avenue and 59A Street at approximately 1:30 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016. It was reported to police that a Chevy Cavalier and a Dodge Avenger were westbound on 167 Avenue.

At that point, the Dodge Avenger allegedly being driven by Gress, struck the Cavalier from behind at a high rate of speed, sending it spinning into the eastbound lanes where it collided with an oncoming Mitsubishi Lancer.

The lone male passenger in the Cavalier was reportedly thrown from that vehicle, after colliding with the Lancer, before both vehicles came to a stop nearby in the eastbound lane.

The male passenger of the Cavalier was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics, following several attempts to administer first aid. The driver of the Cavalier was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in critical condition.

The driver and passenger of the Lancer were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Avenger did not sustain injuries, and is then alleged to have fled the scene on foot.

Two charged in homicide of Bruce MacDonald

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section has laid charges against two female youth in relation to the homicide of 50-year-old Bruce Peter MacDonald.

On Sunday, Mar. 27, 2016, at around 2:23 a.m., police were called to the area of 129 Avenue and 58 Street, near the Belvedere LRT Station parking lot, where a man was found with signs of trauma. The man was treated and transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Edmonton Medical Examiner determined that MacDonald died as a result of being stabbed.

Two female youths, aged 16 and 17 years old, have both been charged with robbery and 2^nd degree murder in relation to this homicide. The youths cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada.

Homicide detectives are not looking for any other suspects.

Woman dies in hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section is investigating the suspicious death of a woman who died after she arrived at the hospital last evening with gunshot wounds.

Officers were called to the hospital yesterday, Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at approximately 6:30 p.m. It was reported a female and a male suffering from gunshot wounds attended the hospital, where the 27-year-old woman subsequently passed away.

The 31-year-old male remains in hospital in stable condition.

The EPS Homicide Section has taken over the ongoing investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, May 5, 2016.

Pedestrian struck at bus stop sustains serious injuries

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a collision in the city’s north end, after a pedestrian was struck at a bus stop over the weekend.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., on Saturday, Apr. 30, 2016, Northwest patrol members responded to the area of 127 Street and 133A Avenue on the report of a pedestrian/vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers located a 46-year-old man who had been struck by a van.

It was reported that the operator of a Pontiac Montana, a 40-year-old man, was travelling south on 127 Street when the vehicle mounted a curb on the west side, just south of 133A Avenue. The vehicle continued to travel on the sidewalk when it allegedly struck a 46-year-old pedestrian, seated on a bench at a bus stop. The pedestrian was dragged a short distance and sustained severe injuries.

The pedestrian was treated and transported to hospital by EMS, where he remains in serious condition with a number of debilitating injuries. The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigation Unit has taken over this investigation.

Although no charges have been laid against the driver at this time, investigators believe alcohol and drugs may have been a factor in this collision.
