Southwest Division patrol members responded to a call to assist EMS at approximately 6:40 a.m, Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, in the neighbourhood of Blue Quill, near 25 Avenue and 120 Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of an unidentified deceased male lying on the road.
The Medical Examiner’s Office has been contacted. An autopsy has yet to be scheduled.

At approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, Downtown Division officers responded to a collision in the area of 105 Avenue and 101 Street. A male pedestrian allegedly attempted to cross 101 Street eastbound when he was struck by a Volkswagen SUV that had entered the intersection on a green light. The SUV was driven by a female motorist.
The pedestrian was treated and transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigation Unit has taken over the ongoing investigation. Charges have not been laid. Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision.
This is the second pedestrian fatality of 2015.
On Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, Edmonton Police Service Downtown Division officers responded to the report of an assault at approximately 1:15 p.m. in the area of 109 Street and 100 Avenue. A 30-year-old female was taking garbage to a dumpster behind an apartment building in the area when she allegedly encountered a male crouching inside the dumpster.
It was reported that after a short verbal altercation, the male jumped out of the dumpster, assaulted the female and stole her mobile phone. Police believe the male fled west from 109 Street on foot.
The female sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the assault and was treated and transported to hospital. Following the incident, she had a composite sketch of the suspect created and then provided the image to the Edmonton Police Service.
The suspect is described as an Aboriginal youth male (possibly 15 to 17-years-old), approximately 5’6” tall and 150 lbs. with medium length, dark hark and a thin moustache. He was wearing a plaid jacket at the time of the alleged assault.

Southwest Division patrol members initially responded to a traffic collision call at approximately 5:52 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015. It was reported that a White Dodge pick-up truck struck another vehicle from behind, while travelling eastbound on 63 Avenue.
The driver of the pick-up truck is alleged to have fled the scene of that hit-and-run collision, before travelling north on Gateway Blvd. with the complainant following. The driver of the suspect vehicle then continued eastbound on Whyte Avenue, where it was reported that the male suspect driver then struck a 63-year-old male pedestrian who was crossing Whyte Avenue at 101 Street.
Witnesses told police that the suspect driver then fled that pedestrian collision scene, before being boxed in by several motorists just west of 99 Street on Whyte Avenue.
Troy Clayton Tessman, 35, was taken into custody, and multiple charges are pending.
The male pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.
The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigations Unit has since taken over the investigation.
