Recent death deemed homicide; investigators seek tips, surveillance and dash cam footage from neighbourhood 

Homicide detectives continue to seek information in relation to a shooting that claimed the life of a 49-year-old man on Sunday.

On Jan. 17, 2021, around 6:15 a.m., police were alerted to a weapons complaint in the area of 105 Avenue and 157 Street. Upon arrival, officers located Dion William McCallum, 49, inside a residence with life-threatening injuries. The man was treated and transported to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

An autopsy was performed on the victim yesterday, Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021 and the Medical Examiner determined that McCallum died from a gunshot wound.  The manner of death is homicide.

Homicide investigators continue to seek information about this incident and encourage anyone with surveillance video (including doorbell cameras and dash cam video) from the neighborhood to contact police immediately.
