At approximately 5:50 a.m. on, Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, Downtown Division officers responded to the report of a hit-and-run collision in the area of Jasper Avenue and 102 Street. It was reported to police that a male pedestrian was crossing from the south side to the north side of Jasper Avenue at the intersection of 102 Street when he was struck by a small black SUV travelling westbound on Jasper Avenue. Witnesses reported that the vehicle stopped briefly at 103 Street and Jasper Avenue before proceeding northbound on 103 Street.
EMS responded, treated and transported the 73-year-old male pedestrian to hospital with serious injuries where he remains.
Investigators believe the vehicle involved was a newer model black Ford Escape SUV and are releasing a photo of the vehicle in hopes of identifying the driver.

Officers also wish to speak with the driver of a white four door sedan that was reportedly travelling westbound on Jasper Avenue at the time and stopped for the pedestrian just prior to the collision. Investigators believe the driver of this sedan may have information that is valuable to the investigation and are asking them to contact the EPS as soon as possible.
