Daycare owner charged with assault

A daycare owner has been charged after police received a complaint involving two young children.

Edmonton Police Child at Risk Response Team (CARRT) launched an investigation on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 when Child Care Licensing provided information that two young children (under the age of five) were allegedly assaulted while in care of Urban Kidz Child Care – a daycare in northeast Edmonton.

The children did not sustain any physical injuries. Police believe this was an isolated incident and there are no other complainants.

Uzma Nasim, 34, owner of Urban Kidz Child Care, was arrested and charged on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 with aggravated assault and assault.
