Police investigate afternoon shooting in city’s northeast

Today (Feb. 29, 2016) at approximately 2 p.m., police responded to a call in the area of 133 Avenue and 25 Street on the report of a break-in and assault with a weapon. It was reported that a male had been shot inside a residence and a suspect vehicle was witnessed leaving the scene.

As a result of a city-wide broadcast, the vehicle was later located at a residence in the area of 85 Street and 136 Avenue, where multiple people were taken into custody for questioning in relation to this incident. No charges have been laid at this time.

The victim, a 31-year-old-male, remains in hospital in very serious, life-threatening condition.

The investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time.
